Amazon surpassed Walmart as the largest U.S. company by annual revenue, reporting $716.9B versus Walmart’s $713.2B, ending Walmart’s run atop the ranking since 2009. *1
Americans aged 55+ now represent roughly 30% of the population and are becoming more important to the economy. The share of U.S. consumer spending by those 55 and older has risen to 45.3%, up from just under 30% in 2000. 2
The current S&P 500 bull market has crossed 1,200 days at the end of January. This means the bull market has now lasted longer than the 1,011-day average since 1928. That being said, the nine longest bull markets averaged 2,380 days. *3
Nearly all of January’s 130,000 payroll gains came from the health care and social services sectors (124,000); government, finance, information, and transportation sectors all shed jobs. 3
